Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat frozen
17.08.2010
Next Ubuntu version 10.10 Maverick Meerkat has been frozen.
Ubuntu Maverick will have a new installer along with support for gestures with multi-touch.
New applications and upgraded versions:
Gnome has been updated to 2.31 version with OneConf (a tool for synchronising configurations between multiple machines). No Gnome 3 with Gnome shell will be present in Ubuntu 10.10 because the Gnome developers have delayed the release of the new desktop for 6 month.
Though Google Chrome was taken into account, Firefox will be kept as default browser for all Ubuntu versions.
The default photo management application for the Gnome environment is now Shotwell.
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat will be released in October 10th, 2010.
