Backup Master Boot Record (MBR) in Linux

dd if=/dev/sda of=/path_to_file/image_file bs=512 count=1

Substitute /dev/sda with your hard disk if it is different (/dev/hda or /dev/sdb for example).

Add sudo in front of the command if you are not root (sudo dd if=/...)
